Laboratories & Computing Facilities of the Institute
The computing facilities of the Institute consist of several classes of computer systems:
The network servers are currently running the following network operating systems:
- 16 student laboratories with over 160 PCs, in particular
15-station Laboratory of Computer Aided Design,
where students can learn specifying and verifying
digital systems in VHDL and Verilog languages
by use of Active-HDL package.
Institute of Computing Science has signed an agreement with
granting free use of Active-HDL package for the teaching purposes.
laboratory of automation, where students can learn to use and program Mitsubishi Electric PLC controllers.
from a donation of a set of Mitsubishi Electric PLC system o the Institute of Computing Science in July 2008.
- staff personal computers (over 180 units),
- workstations from Sun, HP, IBM, SGI,
- multiprocessor UNIX servers,
- machines hosting transputer systems
(12*T805 Transtech Parastation, 64*T805 Meganode)
The Institute Network environment is composed of multi-segment Ethernet networks with optical backbone.
The Institute LAN is connected to the
- Windows NT/2000/XP/Vista,
- IBM AIX,
Laboratories of the Institute are placed in the following buildings:
Lecturing Centre building,
Electrical Engineering Department building
