The Institute facilities
The computing facilities of the Institute consist of several classes
of computer systems. There are:
- 16 student laboratories with over 160 PCs
- staff personal computers (over 180 units),
- 12 Sun workstations and servers Ultra 1/5/10, HP Apollo 9000-750, RS 6000-530H, 3 SGI INDY,
- X-terminals (4 HP X-terminals),
- UNIX servers based on Double Pentium machines,
- 6 Novell Netware based servers,
- machines hosting transputer systems (12*T805 Transtech Parastation, 64*T805 Meganode)
The network servers are currently running the following network operating systems:
- Novell Netware
- Solaris,
- HPUX,
- IBM AIX,
- IRIX,
- Linux.
The Institute Network environment is composed of multi-segment Ethernet networks with FDDI backbone.
The Institute LAN is integrated by 3COM Corebuilder router and connected to the University
and metropolitan networks.
