Aim
Software engineering is a very important area of Informatics. Despite a
real progress made in the area, the every day practice still is far from
satisfactory and a lot should be done to improve it. A key issue in improving
software engineering practice is education and training and key issue in
improving software engineering education is getting industrial input. The
symposium aims at encouraging academia and industry to work in a more long-term,
strategic way to narrow the gap between what a university graduate learns
as a student of software engineering (computer science) and what is expected
from that graduate once she/he begins to work as a software engineer. Besides
papers written by researchers and lecturers, we expect industry practitioners
to write papers on how to improve the profession of software engineering
from industrial point of view.

Venue
Scientific Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences ul. Wieniawskiego 17/19,
Poznan, Poland.
Poznan is one of the
oldest towns in Poland. Its history goes back to the 10th century. In those
times it was the capital of Poland. Now it is a modern town with about
600 000 inhabitants. Located in the middle of the way from Berlin to Warsaw
it is an excellent place for doing business, research and for enjoying
life. In Poznan there are 9 academic institutions and Poznan University
of Technology is one of them.
The Scientific Centre of PAS is located in the very centre of the town,
near the Opera House. Nice hotel rooms, three conference rooms of different
size, and the possibility to use equipment installed in the Poznan Supercomputing
and Networking Centre makes the Scientific Centre an ideal place for various
conferences and scientific meetings.
